Every great story begins with curiosity
A student doesn't become a reader because someone tells them they should.
They become a reader because something sparks their imagination; a dinosaur, a mystery, a favorite athlete, a magical world, or a question they can't stop thinking about. Curiosity opens the first page. The right book keeps them turning the rest.
LunchBoox creates those moments by putting books into students' hands and giving them the freedom to discover stories they can't wait to read.

More than a free book
Every student deserves the opportunity to own books they can call their own.
LunchBoox volunteers visit classrooms to read with students, participate in school and community events, and help students discover books that match their interests. Whether a student is drawn to graphic novels, sports, science, history, or adventure, every book has the potential to spark curiosity. After every classroom visit or event, students are invited to choose a book to take home and make their own.
When students hear great stories, meet enthusiastic readers, and choose books for themselves, reading becomes personal. Curiosity grows into confidence, and confidence grows into a lifelong love of reading.

Why it matters
Reading opens doors to a lifetime of opportunity.
Every book helps students strengthen vocabulary, improve comprehension, and discover new ideas.
For reluctant readers and English as a Second Language (ESL) learners, the right book can make all the difference. Sometimes that book is a graphic novel or the next title in a favorite series. What matters most is finding a story that keeps students turning the page.
Research shows that interest in a story improves comprehension and this helps to make reading more enjoyable. By helping students discover books they genuinely want to read, LunchBoox builds confident readers whose curiosity continues long after the final page.
Volunteer
LunchBoox depends on volunteers who share their time and enthusiasm for reading with local students. Volunteers visit classrooms to read with students, participate in school and community events, and encourage students to explore books that capture their interests. By sharing a story, talking about books, and creating a positive experience around reading, volunteers can spark the curiosity that leads a student to discover a book they cannot wait to read.
